Caught this shite from my 2 year old. Is there anything out there to get some relief....? Benadryl does nothing. I didn’t know adults could catch this and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. Crazy part is my little girl had a very mild case of it and it didn’t slow her down a bit, but I caught a case from hell.

Just be careful that it doesn't spread to your fingers, toes, and tongue.

Already got to my fingers and feet. Bottom of my feet feel like I’ve been walking in wet work boots and socks all day.

Usually worse in adults than in kids. Could try some hydrocortisone cream. Main thing is just to ride it out these next few days.

That's terrible. Just have to hope it doesn't make it to your fingernails and toenails at this point.

Is there a trick to keep it from spreading?

Whatever you do, don't let it get to the base or the tip

Yes. The trick is to catch it early before it gets to your wrist, ankle, and neck.

Wash your hands after you feed or change them

Fortunately, complications are uncommon. Fingernail and toenail loss can occur but is temporary, and the nails grow back without treatment.12,13 Rare cases of viral meningitis have been reported that required hospitalization. Even more unusual is encephalitis or paralysis, usually associated with EV 71 infection.1

I got it in the form of encephalitis. fricking sucked.

had it last year - pretty much same thing, little one got it, not that big of a deal and it was not pleasant for me...there is a 2-3 day period where there is literally nothing you can do to make you itch less...then it gets better.

Hydrocortisone may precipitate infection on the blisters if they pop but if you just can't stand it, -might- help.

Calamine lotion will dry the blisters out and cold bath/shower will restrict the blood vessels and provide some relief.

Eat sherbet and suck on ice for your mouth.

Pray to your God.

Ask around on Facebook. There should be an essential oil for that specific purpose.

I got it about 3 or 4 years ago from one of my kids. It's awful. I ran like 104 degree fever for a day and the blisters lasted about 3 days.

The internet said adults usually wouldn't get it. The internet lied.

Hand-foot-and-mouth disease is most commonly caused by a coxsackievirus.

I want to know who named that virus.
