I agree that the best ham is much better than the best turkey. However, IMO, a properly cooked ham is actually not for a novice and has little room for error before going dry and a turkey, due to size and different types of meat, can be a little more forgiving, especially for a big meal. Therefore, save ham for Easter or a small setting where the cook can give it its due attention and a perfectly juicy ham will be your reward.

Don’t forget to start the equally idiotic “Elf is a better movie than A Christmas Story” thread.

The traditional Thanksgiving day spread with that dry arse turkey is some of the most uninspired food ever put on a table.

Each year at this time, I'm wishing that there was at least one paisan on the Mayflower.

Dish? Green bean casserole, deviled eggs and pecan pie trump all! Without those three, it’s not Thanksgiving.

The superior side dish. Done correctly, there is no equal.

My family always did both growing up.

Ham is the worst holiday dish. A bland meat on it's own, and if honey baked is sweet when I want savory. Ham at a holiday dinner is a bunt!

1. Fried turkey
2. Smoked prime rib
3. Ham
4. Rice dressing
5. Doesn’t matter what else 1-4 is all you need
