The first round of officers got in there very quick and realized that they were out gunned.
Outgunned? the kid was walking down the hall holding the rifle like it was his lunch box, dangling on his side. No way he would've known how to act if he was actually confronted directly by the first three officers who were on scene, regardless of them only having their 9mm's.
The untrained shooter wouldn't have been able to pop off head shots like a video game. That's not how incredibly stressful situations work in real life.
edit: there were 5 not three officers by the classroom, with at least 2 coming in from the opposite direction of the cameras

Permission? He’s walking into a school to shoot it up. Is he like those students except he needs a shooting pass instead of a hall pass?
Ridiculous. Officer sees the shooter, who has already fired shots outside of the school, and doesn't shoot because he never heard back when he asked for permission to shoot. The dumbassery in this is truly incredible. The report said the officer had a clear shot and didn't take it. He could have prevented all other deaths by acting reasonably under the circumstances and shot!

I hope the screams of the dead children haunt these cowards for a long time
I’m glad the screams were edited out of the video.
I could barely watch the video as it was. I’ll never watch it again.

I'm not watching it. This story disturbs me in a bad way. No way I'm watching a video of that.

The Officer Tatum is going to have to eat some crow on this one.
You would think but he's on now and doubling down.

Apparently this guys wife was Eva Mireles, who was a teacher that died. She called him to tell him she was shot. But frick it at that point, storm that room and save your wife and those kids!

Apparently, he tried to

Authorities have previously said that body camera footage later showed Ruiz at 11:48 a.m. entering the building through the west door and telling officers, “She is shot.”
“What happened to (Ruiz) is he tried to move forward into the hallway, he was detained and they took his gun away from him and they escorted him from the scene,” Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw told lawmakers at a hearing on June 21.

Truly, truly terrible. Hope this guy is staying off social media. Prayers for him and all other Uvalde families who have lost their loved ones.

Before you criticize though, ask yourself if you were a cop in that situation and would you put your life on the line in any situation that calls for it?
Marine Corps vet , middle school teacher/coach and spouse of an elementary school teacher. To answer your question; yes. And to follow up on your question, I understand what your asking, but those teachers definitely put their lives on the line for those poor kids; so I would expect the officers to live up to their oaths of “to protect and serve.”
I won’t call those officers names or insult them as people bc, as mike Tyson said, “Everyone’s got a plan until they get punched in the mouth.”

I thought the story was he was disarmed and held back by his fellow officers?

If you are going to dress the part, better be prepared to act on it. Like that Chappell clip, "you're wearing a whores uniform"!!

That whole town needs to burn.

That was sickening and I’m not even a parent. Those cops acted like they were wearing lingerie and carrying water pistols. And the ballistic shields guys hanging back like they have a Walmart sack for protection.
Of course when the gunman is down they’re all Rambo….”hold me back”!!!

He should have done this regardless of what’s been going on, but this country has made a big deal about police shootings.
