This is definitely an over reaction but I certainly wouldn't want a Black Panther movement going on at my kids' school. There is a history of violence as an acceptable tool of protest and I wouldn't want my child to be exposed to even more of the "us" vs "them" mentality.

Send your kid to private/catholic school. Problem solved.

I don't have to. I live in Frisco, TX. Our public schools are good.

In the very first few minutes they said they would get violent if they are not given what they are entitled to.

How did any clear thinking adult allow this to be presented under the authority of the school?

To compare the KKK to the black panther party is jsut so willfully ignorant.

They aren't even factually similar.

What world do you live in? I can point you to some websites to help educate you but that will only help if you're willing to read with an open mind

Both racist, violent, and militant. You're the ignorant one. The KKK and Black Panthers have no place in the American society.

I disagree. Like the poster above me already said they're both pathetic racist groups. For people in the crowd to be cheering that is pretty despicable.

Yeah, they're both groups that rely on intimidation to promote an idea of racial supremacy.

Such an absolutist --- does the past scare you?

Explains to us why the BPP was started. And I'm
Not a black BPP sympathizer, rather just a cognizant follower of reality.

Nor do I disagree that they don't belong.

Again it blow my mind how some of y'all can look at this through the lenses of an equal shared history.

It's just not true. BPP started because well some people were tired of getting hung, shot with hoses, having their churches bombed, and having all of their inalienable rights assaulted.

Why was the KKK started?

Do they even have remotely the same background or premise. The BPP is a direct result and reaction to the terrorism black people faced in the 1950s/1960s.

Who was terrorizing the klan members? Or wait they were fearmongering and drowning in xenophobic laws and rhetoric that have been marked as shameful and inhumane in our society today. The KKK started because some Wackos wanted to reign white power across the south and they were willing to use any tactic to do so.

This isn't a shot anyone today. But how can we have real discourse if we aren't really truly scrap past the surface. I know y'all know better

The BPP probably had an honorable beginning, however, they no longer represent anything honorable today. Their remnants are racist and vile, equivalent to the KKK. WWLTV just tried to defend these students associating with the BPP using the same talking points you made.

First the show never should've happened

Second more is being made of it than it really is. Just a bunch of stupid kids.

Third there is nothing to discuss. Both Panthers and kkk are hate groups that should be left in the past. Stop looking back and start looking forward. Be human before anything else. It's all so fricking stupid. The kids involved and faculty should be barred from any school property.

It's very disturbing. It should've never been allowed. The "diversity" show should also be axed.

Yes I'd love to see the reaction if they yelled white power and vowed to "attack if necessary". If the coin was flipped this would have made national headlines already.

Hitler started out as a wanna be art student. It equating, just pointing out that where the BPP started, and where they ended up are relevant to the discussion.

The BPP and the KKK are false equivalencies and they were nothing a like regardless what anyone has been taught.

The BPP had a 10 point program that outlined goals, including basic liberties that were supposed to be afforded all Americans.

They clothed and fed hungry children, while protecting communities because the police wouldn't. Often times they would protect communities from police.

There were some bad apples in the BPP, but overall they were necessary for the time and the demonizing the whole movement is disingenuous.
