In a suburb of Dallas the same thing happened in a neighborhood where they usually just stole the stereo's out of vehicles. This was 20 plus years ago. The cops could have cared less and took awhile to come take a report.
They steal cars to drug run the border to Mexico and or sell them in Mexico.
I imagine it is worse nowadays.
I lived a lot of places and Dallas burbs was the only place I couldn't stand.

20 years ago, the burbs weren't near what they are currently. Wasn't easy to get to them in fact. The north Dallas tollway only extended to Legacy. George Bush wasn't in all out construction yet. 121 was still 4 lane. 380 still 2 lane. All toll extensions from I35 to the south and west hadn't started. 635 had the only carpool lane but not fully extended to the east or west. Same with 75 north and south. All routes have been extended for the most part now and thusly, burbs that weren't special suddenly had a reason to grow. Like The Colony and Little Elm. Small bedroom towns that now have exploded.
