when walking my dog (on leash) and other dogs run up trying to attack, it's annoying. most times nothing happens, but there's been two times where the dog off leash was going after my dog to the point where I picked him up and the dog was still trying to bite by jumping up. he made one more jump and I kicked him off the side about 3 feet away. the owner saw this and came running/screaming at me whining about not touching her dog. now, I don't want to kick dogs but I will if it comes to that kind of situation again. just sucks to be in the middle of it.

This. I'll have my dog off leash in certain areas when there is no-body around. As soon as anyone gets within 50 feet or so, on the leash. My dog gets nervous around other dogs because a huge husky in New Orleans bashed her against a car door hard enough to leave a dent. Woman said she was leaving a note about what happened, but I was too busy trying to get my dog to safety.

my dog is on leash and literally walking down the road. other dogs that are off leash in their yards will run up sometimes.

wow, sounds vicious. I bet those "attacking" dogs are wagging their tails too and actually never "attacking" your little dog. That is unless your dog is the one being aggressive.

seems you might qualify as one of the more ignorant dog owners.
let me try again - What does your dog do when the other, let's call them "friendly", unleashed dogs run up to yours? Is your dog friendly or aggressive?

Seems to me that you're just describing a bigger unleashed dog running up to your little dog to say hello/play & you panic and assume your dog is being attacked.

I hope he’s unsettled enough by my antics to pick a new path. We rent this place out through Airbnb and I’m not there all the time so I don’t want this guy roaming through

wait, you own the place and rent it out or just rent it a few times a year? Doubt he's unsettled by your actions. Wielding a paddle and making a hyperbolic comment makes a poor impression. Unless you want to give the impression of being a pussy. You should have just poltley asked him to keep off your property. If you own the place I'd be more upset about the trespassing. The dog you're so afraid of was probably just ignoring the owner casue he saw the other dogs and was curious as dogs tend to be at the sight of other dogs.
You sound like you overreacted and came off as a complete weenie for no reason.

Shoot his dog then openly and publicly blame him, he won’t come back in your yard. No social media needed.

You have to move up the chain of command. frick the Owner and then the dog in order to establish dominance

Can we get some pictures or a microsoft paint drawing of this strip of land on your non-existent property you own that your neighbor uses to cut through.

Pit bulls love hamburger meat. They really like it with a little temik sprinkled on it.

pot calling kettle black?

your dog shouldn't be running up on anybody, in any method or manner.

Anybody that owns a dog that weighs more than 20lbs should either be using that dog for 1. hunting or 2. working livestock. Period.

There is absolutely no good reason to own a dog that isn't a lap dog if it is not a working dog.

And we should make it illegal to say you are a pet parent and/or they are your child.

Sure there is, because I want one is a good enough reason. This is America.

Just shame them, to much government in our lives already.

FTR, I don't have a dog. My wife wants a little lapdog, though.

All dogs are predators. Domesticated predators.
