Lifetime fitness bans cable news networks because 'politically charged content' doesn't mesh with a 'healthy way of life'

quote:

Enough with the polarizing political chatter on cable TV.

That's the message from a nationwide health club chain that has pulled 24-hour cable news networks from TVs at its 128 locations because the "consistently negative or politically charged content" doesn't mesh with the company's "healthy way of life philosophy."

Life Time Fitness, which has 128 locations, said in a statement posted to its Twitter account, "The decision to remove the national cable network news stations resulted from significant member feedback received over time and our commitment to provide family oriented environments free of consistently negative or politically charged content."

The statement continues, "It always is our goal to meet the majority of members' expressed requests and we believe this change is consistent with the desires of overall membership as well as our healthy way of life philosophy."

Thanks, Trump?

Politics are for scrawny nerds, they have no place in a gym.

Sounds good to me. I don’t really like being bombarded by CNN.

Cable news networks should be banned from everywhere for being inherently biased and completely shitty at their jobs.

If you’re watching tv while at the gym you’re not doing it right. So who cares if the fatties can’t watch the news?

I have no problem with this. Watching that crap is depressing.

Pretty much all the news channels are crap anyway.

They should just broadcast the hottest chick in the gym working out.

Me too, I prefer being bombarded by BBC. That's half the reason I go to the gym, to just stare at BBC.

I wish my work would take the same stance.

Cable news networks are literally for people who need their opinions given to them.

This. I've never seen one segment on any cable news network that I didn't shake my head at and find some obvious flaw or wrinkle in the reasoning.

When does that happen? I go to the airport it’s CNN, I go to the doctor it’s CNN, hotel breakfast area it’s CNN.

I don’t really want Fox bombarding me either.

I would think this is unanimously accepted among gym goers. Seriously idgaf about Sean Hannity talking about hillary's emails for the 39494994 consecutive day, nor do I care about Rachel Maddow being appalled at the shape of a cucumber

Everytime I go into the gym the sounds are off and/or people have headphones plugged in. Who cares what others watch during their workout time, they pay the fees just like everyone else.

Pretty much never. Even if fox is on there's 8 other tvs with CNN, MSNBC, ESPN and other far left channels on.

FNC triggers, CNN triggers, MSNBC triggers, they ALL trigger people.

Smart move. There really does need to be a break from all the steady diet of divisive shite, and the gym is a perfect place where we can all stand to take a break from it and focus on our health and mental outlook. I personally believe politics has its place, but honestly, I don’t want to eat, sleep, and drink it, and that’s what a whole bunch of people do these days, and you know what, it’s not healthy. Take a break and work out, and then you can resume your mental stress monster when you get back in your car.
