I’m further along in life than you are. Money isn’t an issue but time is. The kids activities dominate our weekends to the point I don’t really have time for hobbies.

A gym membership, quality food and supplements is the extent of money I spend on myself these days.

I hear you. I have been there before.

It’s natural to stop doing or pausingsome of your hobbies when you have a family. Focus on a few hobbies/interests which are affordable, and go with it. Over time you develop new interests, that you are unaware of, like going to the gym, kids birthday parties, sports, school functions, etc. to name a few.

Focus on your career as well, which could put you in a better position to afford all of your sacrificed hobbies, as well as the ones you adapted to.

What you are going through is pretty normal.

100%

15 and 21 yo

It was just me and my wife last night. I was grilling and looked at
The empty pool and empty yard, and was sad.

I'm 30 years out of date, but my wife stayed at home with four kids, while I supported the family on a young engineer's salary.

My wife was an accountant, and she took care of all finances including giving me enough cash to buy fuel and get a po-boy on Fridays. Whatever that was back then, that's what I spent on me. And those were easily among the best times of my life.

I get a coffee or two out per week and then buy some small hobby stuff every so often. Maybe $50/month total

eh I don’t think that’s entirely true. I have two under two and still get out and play disc golf every so often. It’s a lot less now then before they were born but I get in a round a week usually.
