A guy in my hometown used to do this. He was a very short man and I guess he wanted to show people how strong he was so he would crush your hand during a handshake. I thought it was hilarious.

Doing the finger grab - insecurity shake is bad. Limp fish is worse. but I sometimes accidentally grab fingers and immediately correct myself if I do.
My brother will a limp fish shake dude in his tracks, grab his forearm politely with his non-shaking hand and correct the whole shake and gives them a nod.

Yeah, the ridiculously squeezed handshake is a favorite of the self-titled "entrepreneur" and other strivers. Firm, not aggressive.

I have an in-law that does this. He's a classic napoleon complex that's rude to most of his family and does an extremely quick and hard handshake

Yeah, Im not sure why they wouldn't half arse it. Its awkward if one is strong and the other feels like grabbing a dead fish. If both hands are like dead fish then its really weird, so might as well make both hands strong like bull.
