I know the OP has a lot on his plate right now. I can’t even imagine going through this. With that said, if I had taken the time to come here asking for help and then received more help than I could have ever imagined, I’d like to think I could take a sec to say thanks and let everyone know I’m ok. Dude was talking about taking Xanax and wanting to die. I’m genuinely worried about his well-being

For a long time, the Catholic church told people they couldn't be cremated. I think they have changed their stance on that but she could have been Catholic and wanted to make sure her wishes were granted.
I’m not Catholic, but I think it’s OK now as long as the ashes are interred. I don’t think they approve of scattering ashes, etc.

Someone has been contacted.

I think one factor at play with this one is how open Commander Data has been on here over time. I don't know him personally, but I did get somewhat invested during his Covid ordeal
Yea that’s why I felt comfortable donating because I remembered following his ups and downs with covid. He was one of the first people here to get it and report back.
I remember him saying his hospitalization was motivation for him to quit smoking. I think he said he worked in construction.

FWIW, the guy could be clean as a whistle and I would still be skeptical. I am cynical by nature.
If you watch Dateline regularly you pick apart these types of things by nature. This wouldn’t even be a top 10 con on that show

Dateline, American Greed, etc is all I watch. I am a murder porn and crime show junkie.

My mom is like that. When my Pops was living, we would accuse her of watching and taking notes on how NOT to kill us.

Does he? Did you talk to him?
Maybe money isn’t all he needs right now.
Just saying.
You're right. I'm sorry. What he definitely needs is 100% support from the internet, and the 1% skepticism/rudeness is going to ruin it. Those are the posts on this message board that just covered the expense of a tragedy he should focus on. Like you're doing. That's the healthy call.

We are all wrong sometimes. At least you can admit it.

Your point is valid and not without credulity. However, skepticism only serves us as donors/potential donors, and does nothing for the OP in the event that the hardship is real.

So, why has the sister started another one, asking $5K for an autopsy?

I get your deflection, but the voting situation of our last two posts has me lol'ing. Whatever. Stay mad at the 6 posts that got you sandy. I'm happy for OP and I'm sure he'll feel more blessed than you believe he should feel.

quote:Same here. He had a few posts in this thread and the one on Bama board this morning but 12+ hours of radio silence after starting a GFM doesn’t seem good. Especially for someone who allegedly may have had some previous demons and admittedly had suicidal thoughts. I would feel a lot better if OP just popped in to say hi on here. I hope he’s OK. Those kids need him

That's not my point, hemp. My point is simply that of the hundreds or maybe thousands of people that have read this, at least 500 have felt strongly enough and had the means to help. Probably thrice more felt the same but didn't have the means. And possibly a handful took issue. Wahwah chose to focus on the last group and determine that the OPs world will be rocked because of them, despite the efforts and feelings of the other 2k or so. My point was to tell wahwah to maybe not expect 100% greatness from the internet and to appreciate the results and majority sentiment.
If that's a wrong opinion, then I'll ban myself.

6 posts? I felt inclined to say something when I saw a man who is broke, unemployed with 3 children walk in to find his wife unexpectedly dead then come here asking for help which was delivered. Then people started posting his criminal record and drug history questioning his story just because he didn’t come back and thank them quick enough.
It’s almost like people want some sort of validation that they did a good deed.
If you feel inclined then donate and move on. That’s how charity works. If you don’t trust the story then keep moving, no need to turn into Lee Zurik

I've been told that a wellness check is going to be done tonight but I won't receive any info one way or another.
Posted on 12/10/20 at 11:22 pm to WaWaWeeWa
And I felt inclined to remind you that this thread is the reason he will have the funds he needed to bury his wife and maybe a little extra, which is pretty special.
And now everyone knows how me and you see things. Very very clearly. We should both be happy with that.
