Yep.
I know 3 that have died. From good families, college grads, etc. All started with pain pills in college.
I know of at least 10 others that have been to rehab for opiates/benzos before they got into needles. Some of them snorted and smoked heroin though.
Its fricking terrible.

From my amateur research, it appears the guy had, at least no long ago, a decent job. Bragged about being a contractor and traveled a good bit. Looked to lead a pretty entertaining lifestyle at least a couple years ago.
