Guy got paid at work for 7 mos. while working another job

He quit coming to meetings, never called anyone and no one could reach him. Somehow they still thought he was working. After 6-7mos they figure him out and fire him. He recently updated his LinkedIn page and it says he started a new position 7mos ago. He was making 6 figures at the job he shafted. For 7 mos there he was making bank.

I have difficulty believing this.

I worked for about 8 months before I bounced right out the door for a company that this happened to on a fairly regular basis. Employees would leave and continue to get paid for 2-3 months after.
Hence my short tenure, couldn’t wait to GTFO if there.

I saw a consultant do this one time at a software company. He was on his sailboat living the dream for about 5-6 months.
He would come into the office once a month and get his arse chewed out and go right back out. I knew him from the marina, not the job.

I work for a fortune 5 company and work from home. I swear we could moonlight and nobody know. At minimum drive for Uber or Lyft.
My coworker literally just shows up on conference calls once a week, never talks and the only time anyone sees an email or call from him is after 5pm.
We all think he has a 8-5 gig and pulling extra from this job. He’s been with us 6 years. Pretty genius

I left a job that I worked for 9 years and had a ton of vacation time accumulated (467 days). I figured they would lump sum me and be done, but every 2 weeks I got a pay check. I guess they would pay for the next 15 months. After 4 months I looked at the pay stub and realized I was not getting paid vacation time but work time. I called my old boss and told him what was happening. He told me the company was hoping I would come back and appreciated all the work I did so they kept paying me. I told him I had a new job and the following check was vacation time. They paid me for the next 15 months for vacation. Was a sweet deal.g
