It's definitely getting worse as these delinquent fricks are getting more brazen by the day. However, it's not the mayor's fault or the city counsel or whoever else in local government you want to blame. My job is to see and evaluate kids with mental illnesses, behavioral issues, etc. The parents that are coming in, for the most part, shouldn't be allowed to own a fricking gold fish let alone a child. These kids have no chance in life. The thing needing the biggest change is decades of an entitlement mindset that will probably never go away. These people really think they are entitled to stealing everyone's wallets in a local restaurant because frick you. You and I are the reason they are living shitty lives.

I assume this is in reference to the confederate statues?
This seemingly has no relation to this even, and you can't pin the statutes and the efforts to remove it to the lawlessness and the inadequacy of the NOPD in New Orleans.

The city needs jobs and educational training that is solely based on culture and tourism--- it's a very transient and weak field with no real growth or upward mobility.

Will funding help a bit? Sure, but I've been around long enough to know that these things are cyclical. To break the cycle, the element that causes the problem has to either advance up the ladder...not likely...and/or be eliminated via something like gentrification.
People are buying houses north or St. Claude for more than 200SF. That is what will do the heavy lifting.
If you expect the New Orleans government to fix major societal issues...you are going to die waiting.
ETA: Anyone that thinks Guiliani/NYC early 90's is analogous to Mayor X/NOLA present day is smoking rocks.

The point is the mayor and city Council aren't doing shite. They don't have a plan and they haven't acknowledged a problem. They're publicly spending their time in meaningless bullshite.

I would tend to agree but entitlement is more of a macro than micro thing. It's evident Amongst people from all socioeconomic groups

I'd be fine with that but I think if we made it so they had to support their kids themselves and it didn't mean a bigger pay check they'd figure out how not to get pregnant.
