no, the stupid, dumbfrick kids killed it, as posted earlier, we were as wild as there ever was back in the day, but we knew when to exercise discretion, and knew there were consequences for certain actions

Completely untrue.

My friends were quoted in that article, and we all think the alcohol ban will be terrible for local businesses.
The fact that there were 681 arrests last year, with over 80% of them due to public intox and minor in possession goes to show that the police were acting irresponsibly as well.
We fought it, but were not listened to.
Ask any business in PCB if the ban has had a positive or negative impact.
We understand that there is an image to uphold, but this outright ban is completely unnecessary and an act of small town overreach.
The Chamber really dropped the ball in not supporting it's businesses as well.

The windfall of revenue young people think they provide pales in comparison to the damage and annoyance they cause.
Bingo
A few cases of natty light doesn't offset the family of 5 that is discouraged from coming.
The family of 5 goes out to eat every night, plays some golf perhaps, spends some money at Alvins Island, etc.
The spring break crowd brings their own liquor, throws up on the couch, and breaks the door frame.

Literally the opposite.
College kids have credit cards.
The average family in the Red Neck Riveria has mortgages, kids, sports, etc.
Time will tell, and hopefully I'm wrong, as many of my clients, neighbors, and friends are nervous.
If anybody is in GS in the next coming weeks, you will see an enlarged police force patrolling everywhere.
That has got to be encouraging for Lil Johnny.
Come on down to GS. We have police EVERYWHERE for your family's protection!

Would love a country wide ban of alcohol. Go Gulf Shores

I think you are both right to some extent. Should there be a crackdown on the excessive (and often underage) drinking by kids who can't behave themselves? Absolutely. Is an all-out ban on alcohol on the beach the way to go? Hell no.

They did have a "zero tolerance" policy for a bit, but the chief of police, who is from VEGAS, could not handle it.
Like I said, we'll see. Hopefully, I am wrong.

Is this a big issue in Gulf Shores? I never wanted to go there when I was in college because the one time we tried, it was nothing but old people and families.
Posted on 3/6/17 at 2:47 pm to Clark W Griswold
It's time to grow up and stop going on spring break brah
Posted on 3/6/17 at 2:48 pm to BamaCoaster
Kids with credit cards probably aren't spending spring break in gulf shores
Posted on 3/6/17 at 2:49 pm to Clark W Griswold
So where do the spring breakers go?

I'd say mom and dad would rather see cops on the beach than a bunch of college age asshats making fools of themselves and being an obnoxious PIA. I'm fairly certain that goes double for the property owners who prefer you use that credit card somewhere further east.
I doubt some douche swiping his Capitol One Visa in a bar matters much to the people that have to repair and clean up after him.

Out of the country if they're smart

As long as the cops leave me alone, yes.
