If it’s used I would say someone did that aligning or adjusting the door gap.
If not I have no idea.

I posted a photo of the door, theres a piece missing. No dent on the exterior. Guess it was a little rock or something.

Or, it was a bullet.
Is there a bullet hole in the door?

Wouldn’t even call that “damage”

I have touch up paint, but to fix it I’d think you’d need a bit of bondo and you’d have to get at the spot a bit with some sandpaper. frick it though.

Opening and closing the car door 1 billion times over the life of the car, it would never hold.

That’s looks a whole lot like a .22 bullet

Looking at a stock photo of the door, with the cubby placement. The location of the damage on the upper ridge with no signs of damage on the wider part below it almost seems like something was hanging from above and got closed into the door. Could it have been a lanyard with keys and whatnot placed in the door cubby?

I bought it brand new…I always inspect the car…this happened Monday or Tuesday.

This is a Subaru, badged as a Toyota…they have tons of issues with rust.

Something was hanging out of the door when he slammed it. Happened to be with a seat belt that didn't retract all the way.

I thought the same thing about the seatbelt but it’s really far forward. Here’s a pic

I thought that was the door jamb. I meant the bottom of the door itself.
