Companies who frick up like Equifax would love this. It would effectively end class action suits. You want attorneys to make $500 for bringing a multi-year suit?

Yes

They are a complete waste of time for everyone but the attorneys, Equifax et all would be far more terrified of facing 175 million individual suits than knowing they can simply pay off one law firm and throw a few scraps to those affected.

That is what class action suits are, a payoff for the law firm and damage mitigation for the defendant, the only loser is the chump who got affected but now has little to no rights to sue because of his 37 cent award.

Which is why I selected the free credit monitoring option

So BP pays out billions to random people 500 miles off the coast because their “business was affected” but I can’t get 100 bucks?

I will start that reinstatement thread for you in a few weeks. You need a timeout after getting my hopes up for that $125.

Admins let the banning procedure begin.

So 31 million was set aside for 147 million people thats data was affected.

Not exactly accurate. $31MM was set aside for people who choose that option. The bulk of the money in the settlement goes to Experian, the firm Equifax will be paying for the first 4 years of credit monitoring. There is also a bigger pool of money for people who are claiming the hours and costs they incurred in response to the breach.

I took the 6 years free credit monitoring.

Suckers.
you already receive free credit monitoring with most major cards. Do that's not much. The value they assign to it is shite

The real crime is $700 mil settlement but $31 mil to people most likely affected by it. Balance to attorneys?

If you want Equifax to pay for this, the credit monitoring option was always the route to go.

Absolutely, but they still have to pay that to Experian.

I was honest as this credit breach really didn’t impact me so I didn’t take the $125. Y’all are some greedy, lying, cheating mofo’s and can split my share.

They check to see if your information was part of the breach Einstein. If you weren’t you can’t proceed past first question. If you were the $125 is if you already had credit monitoring in place to help divert the cost

To everyone who applied for the $125, you are what is wrong with America. You compromised your morals and sold your dignity for a “free” $125. Now, you are getting a fraction of that. How’s it feel? Go wait in line for your government cheese while posting online about welfare queens and food stamp abuse. The lawyers love you.

175 million individual suits

Not even close to the number of individuals who would follow through.

Most people wouldn't give a shite. The people who would follow through would be the ones who had to spend money after identity theft.
