Shirley Q Liquor once called Greyhound to see how much money it would cost her and her children to go round trip from Orange to Ferriday.
It was quite expensive. Caught her by surprise.

I cannot think of a worse idea than this. Tell your friend to have his affairs in order before boarding.

I rode with my wife (gf at the time) to Nashville from Montgomery and left my car in Montgomery, so I took the GreyHound back from Nashville to Montgomery with a stop in bham.
I wouldn’t say it was dangerous, really at all.
But the only people that ride the bus are people that literally have no other option, including borrowing a car. So that’s what you get.
The craziest part and arguably worst, was that we had like an hour layover in bham. I was screwing around killing time and get back about 15 mins early and there’s a huge line when I get back to get on the bus. I was the 2nd to last seat, and about 6 people didn’t make it. So they over sold it. I don’t have a clue when the next bus was, it was bham to Montgomery so probably somewhat often. But I would have potentially been in jail for murder had I needed to find out.

In that case, he is free to do whatever he wants from now until January 20th

Terrible idea. Imagine being surrounded by a hundred people that havent showered in days.

I did this route in 2007. I remember there weren’t enough seats for ticketed passengers because the bus came from New Orleans overbooked. It was hilarious. My stoic little white arse made it on.

Years ago I had to take a friend to the Atlanta Greyhound station. I'm still not sure how I made it out alive. That place made Escape From New York look like a Girl Scout picnic.

You’ll end up next to some hooligan that will smell like arse funk and old cheese.
You’ll probably be assaulted before the destination.

Here’s the appropriate way you should have stated this sentence:
“Asking for another fry cook I work with who wishes to travel to Houston using Greyhound/Flixbus.”

Greyhound is a rough crowd. Gangbangers etc. If he is tough and can handle himself, go for it. Sit by bus driver if he can.

expect a 4~8 hour of delay from point of departure.

Best case; it isnt horrible.
Worst case; 9th ring of hell.
Been a long time since I’ve been on a Greydog. Dallas to Dayton, Ohio. I considered getting out and walking.

Not advised! Tell him to take AmTrak for a Greyhound-lite experience.

Just surviving the Baton Rouge bus station will be a miracle.
This can’t be said enough. He really needs to take a bus during daylight hours. Spend as little time as possible at the bus stations and under no circumstances should he wander around the surrounding streets.
