Whichever Amos brother it was who decided he could sell insurance to Japanese people because they wear surgical masks, then had the Japanese government essentially give him a 30 year monopoly for A&H/supplementary insurance because they didn't think anybody would buy it

In that timeframe it has to be Gates, Jobs, and Bezos. All of them have had a profound transformative effect on the way the world operates today vs just 20 years ago. Their contributions to their fields and the world at large just cannot be denied. Warren Buffett has even spoken at various times about how impactful each has been and their business acumen.

J. Patrick Doyle had to have made a deal with Satan to achieve what he did with Domino's. It's the only explanation.

Yeah, but he trolls the shite out of dumb, dumber, and yellow, which surely makes him a hero to 30% of the population.

True but I've always enjoyed the Fred Smith story of when they were down to their last $5k.
quote:
“I asked Fred where the funds had come from, and he responded, ‘The meeting with the General Dynamics board was a bust and I knew we needed money for Monday, so I took a plane to Las Vegas and won $27,000.’ I said, ‘You mean you took our last $5,000— how could you do that?’ He shrugged his shoulders and said, ‘What difference does it make? Without the funds for the fuel companies, we couldn’t have flown anyway.’ Fred’s luck held again. It was not much, but it came at a critical time and kept us in business for another week.”

Steve Jobs
If you haven’t read his biography (by Walter Isaacson) I highly recommend it. He was a bit of a prick and basically ripped off the GUI technology from Xerox but Jobs vision, commitment to quality and ability to push extremely talented engineers far beyond their creative abilities was unprecedented.

Prisoners of the moment. Gates and Jobs are light years ahead of Bezos in terms of historical context. It really is not close yet.

Plus, even though Bezos is wealthier than Gates now would he be if Gates were still leading Microsoft and making money instead of focusing on giving it away? Gates is only in his early 60s but has been out the game and giving away billions for many years.
A CEO I like is Warren Buffett. Seems he became super wealthy by being a great businessman over many decades instead of being at the forefront of a revolution in a particular industry.
Granted he’s up there in age, but if I had to pick someone to lead a random company that could be
anything from Goldman Sachs to Walt Disney Co. to Home Depot I would pick Buffett.
