The ball parks. When I grew up there, youth athletics pitted neighborhood against neighborhood. You lived in Buccaneer Villa North, you played for Vista; you lived in Arabi, you played for Carolyn Park, etc. There were rivalries with your classmates at school. The system in Slidell sucks by comparison.

Vista, bitch!

I like it how they claim "Da Parish"

Everyone says this when you are headed back to whatever parish you are from.

In 27 years I've never heard a single person from Orleans, Jefferson, Livingston, EBR, Ascension, Tangipahoa, St. John, or any other parish say that.

My first New Orleans experience was with people from the parish during Mardi Gras.

So, I assume you are all just like them.

You can tell a lot about people from the Parish, and the NOLA Metro area, by where they went to high school.

The catholic/public thing is tantamount. This is why most people's first question when meeting someone new is "Where'd you go to high school?"

Ben's Pizza. And tamales.
A perfect trip back to the parish means I go down there for a Tony's roast beef, then come home with a Ben's pizza, a couple dozen tamales, and a box of Randazzo's eclaires.

Not sure where these folks went, but we hung with their group for like a week. That was my first experience with LA residents who were more jersey shore than duck dynasty.

It really is. The improvements they plan on making from the Jackson Barracks to the Battlefield for the Tricentennial are really top notch.
