Huey Pierce Long

Could have been president if it wasn't for FDR putting a hit on him. His strategy according to Wikipedia:

quote:

Long planned to challenge Roosevelt for the Democratic nomination in 1936, knowing he would lose the nomination but gain valuable publicity in the process. Then he would break from the Democrats and form a third party using the Share Our Wealth plan as its basis.

I've also heard he further wanted his third party to split the Democrat vote enough to re-elect Hoover in hopes that Hoover would run the country into the ground. Then, the Democrats would BEG for him (and not FDR) to be their nominee in 1940. And he would sweep into office with resounding public support. Very intriguing.

Christianity is likely wiped out in Europe for the most part if this happens. France would have inevitably fallen, and Italy soon afterwards. Considering that Christianity was pretty fragile in Britain in the 7th century, it is possible that with Christianity failing in continental Europe that the heathens prevail in Britain.

It is likely that without Charles Martel, Christianity likely would have been completely wiped out in the proceeding centuries.

You just gave feminists and liberals a boner

Oklahoma State hadn't got upset by a terrible Iowa State

Had it been Oklahoma instead of Ok State, it wouldn't have been an issue.

OU lost 3 games in the regular season that year. OSU's only loss was to Iowa St, otherwise they'd have been undefeated and no way Bama jumps back to #2 in the BCS over an undefeated BCS conf champ

What if Frederick doesn't drown on the way to the Third Crusade? He led a huge German army that scared the shite out of Saladin.

What if the Byzantines hadn't let their military deteriorate in the preceding years, and then have some of their cavalry mercenaries defect to the Muslims at the Battle of Manzikert?

What if Byzantium hadn't been exhausted by constant war with Persia, gutted by plague, and Emperor Heraclius sick and unable to lead his troops to the Battle of Yarmuk?

What if Catherine had given Henry VIII a surviving son?

What if the Gunpowder Plot had succeeded?

What if a storm doesn't destroy the Spanish Armada?
What if a typhoon doesn't sink the Khan's horde in route to Japan?
What if the Library of Alexandria isn't burned during Caesar's campaign in Egypt?

If General Howe would have pursued George Washington's army across New Jersey after his retreat from Brooklyn, instead of quartering for the winter, he could have crushed the rebellion as early as 1776...and today we are all speaking proper English.

Was it? I didn't think historians were sure of when it was destroyed. But yeah, it would've been amazing if all those works had survived.

Octavian set fire to Mark Antony's fleet at anchor in Alexandria's harbor, but the fire soon spread to the town and burned several city blocks including the library.

The state of Alabama has some interesting "what ifs". There were several attempts to annex to the panhandle of Florida into Alabama. Think about the beach/vacation revenue that could've been generated from that deal

Similar to this......FedEx almost set up their superhub in Little Rock instead of Memphis.

What if Harald Hardrada had not attacked England just days before William invaded from Normandy?

What if Alexander is not saved by Cleitus at Granicus?

What if Cyrus does not let the Israelites return to the promised land?

What if the Jews do not revolt against Rome in 66AD?

What if Stanley sides with Richard III instead of Henry Tudor at Bosworth?

What if the Greeks lose to Persia at Platea?

In the heat of battle, the Aztecs are instead successful in their human sacrificial offering of Hernan Cortez on the pyramid steps. High above Tenochtitlan for all to see, the Spaniards are demoralized and leaderless. The Aztecs ultimately drive the Spaniards back to Cuba.
