I was trying to get a 12 week old. The owners gave to a friend instead. I was pretty upset because I really wanted the damn dog.

I'll probably end up with a boxer in the end, but I just looking at the moment.

And I want a pure breed dog.

Great Danes seem like such awesome dogs. Gentle, goofy, lovable giants.

The much shorter lifespan of them would be too hard for me though. It sucks enough knowing my pug likely won’t be around in the next couple years(he will be 13 this year). Couldn’t imagine knowing a Dane likely won’t be around after 7-8 years.

We have a 2 year old Dane. She has no idea she’s a dog. Be prepared to have a bed mate. And she’s big. Did I mention she’s big?

You'll have a lot better success looking west in Texas...Houston, San Antonio, Beaumont, Dallas. Look on Craigslist in pets section within those cities

Have a ten month old Great Dane

might be my new favorite breed. Super chill and incredibly loving dogs. You get used to the size.

We lost our 8 year old Dane about a year ago, we swore up and down we'd never get another Dane because the pain was too much after only 8 years...we got another one about 3 weeks ago

Mine just turned 2 last week. She’s a doofus. Thinks she’s a lapdog.

Don’t have any info on LA breeders as I’m up in PA. Good luck and hope you can find a good one!

There is a great dane rescue org in Metairie called "Whoa Nellie." They have a web site. BTW, danes are a fantastic breed of dog.

I have an 11.5 year old great Dane. She's the best dog I've ever owned. Shes still going strong, though I have to give her some Rimadyl occasionally for her hips.

How big are your Danes? My female is around 155, but could stand to lose a few pounds.
