I wish the 40+" mark would move a little north and park itself over NYC. I am tired of all these blizzards of the century that fail to deliver.

Kind of like these WYHI threads that don't have pics.

The GFS has been abysmal beyond 3 days. That is 11 days away. Good luck with that verifying.

can't. fricking. wait

it's nice working in an weather center that doesn't answer to the public, so we can actively root for the apocalypse

but the Euro is starting to back off on it here in Boston unfortunately. DC is still getting buried, though.

Yeah it really has.

the most notable thing about this one is that the Euro was on it first and then the GFS caught up to it. Now the Euro is backing off a bit so who the frick knows.

and the more I forecast snow up here the more I realize that all the models are worthless. Snowfall totals have so many variables that they're basically impossible to forecast, and it's pretty easy to get snow in the first place while none of the models are forecasting it.

honestly it's made me less confident in forecasting in general. it's not real until the HRRR says it's real and even then I have my doubts. Good thing I only forecast 36 hours max.

I honestly feel that the models have done worse than they did a few years ago. Maybe the upgrades are to blame?

I read somewhere that Congress didn't approve the funds to make the hardware upgrades necessary to fully implement the software upgrades and that we're basically running a half baked GFS right now. I'm all for blaming those clowns.

I could be wrong on that as I don't even remember what my source was.

Yep. And it looks like I need to get the snowblower out on Wednesday or Thursday and make sure it's ready to go.

Bring it on. I could use a good storm to shut down the office for a day or two.

here in Mass they clear the roads super quickly. A couple days ago I was on the interstate while it was coming down and had my cruise on 65 the entire time. Just a few mph slower than normal.

I'm in northern Virginia and it's looking like the bulk of the accumulation will be on Friday night and Saturday. A nice day to make a Bolognese sauce, drink some good wine and chill out.

Grocery stores will be packed on Thursday.

Due to global warming.

If somebody already said that I'll change mine to fracking.
