First, I apologize if this belongs on the travel board. I am moving to Houston in a few months and I have been looking at apartments online with the intent of going out and looking at them once I have a narrowed down list.

So far I am considering 2900 West Dallas, 2411 Washington, Camden City Centre, and The Standard on West Dallas to give you all and idea of location and pricing.

Any suggestions on other places to look/thoughts on the above listed locations if you have lived there or know someone who has?

This is a great location. I'd stay away from 2411 Washington because the traffic is atrocious. Camdem City Centre is too close to Katy.

Real question is, Where is your office gonna be and do you like the nightlife?

I live downtown at One Park Place. I enjoy it and it has a nice market and bar on the first floor (Phoenicia/MKT Bar). Also across the street from the shops and tunnel access which is convienant if you work downtown. Discovery Green on the other side and only a few blocks from Minute Maid and Toyota Center.

thought i had a different name. Midtown is good area but cheesedick central on occasion . Irish Cowboy and shite like that had frat star wannabes all day every day. believe it changed names now.

all of midtown has skyhigh rent but good locals for upstarting O-T ballers

When I moved back to Houston, I used an apartment locator. They will be able to help you identify other options in that area.

i lived at the post rice lofts downtown close to a decade ago when I was younger it was a really cool place with alot of young professionals and on the ground floor had azuma sushi and sambuca jazz bar, it was a cool place to live in my 20s. I havent gone by there in a long time so not sure whats on the first floor but downtown has changed ALOT since 2006 back then there were almost no bars to go to worth a shite

I lived in the Rice as well from 2008-2013. From what I understand, they just went through a renovation, so a lot of the lofts are updated.

None of the new bars and restaurants in North downtown were open back then. If I had to do it now, I'd look at Market Square tower (bars/restaurants) or One Park Place (Market/shops/high-end restaurants).

Look at a new development called "The Star" in downtown. Note that prices on apartments.com are not accurate, as they are running major deals to get it leased (4 months free factored into monthly rent).

Downtown is pretty much the spot for the mid-20s crowd now. Nightlife wise*

I'll be working downtown not far from Mintute Maid. I'd say my ceiling is about $1400/mo. I don't think I need anything fancier than that

Did not know that.

Glad I am an old man. Jesus, if they'd have had these type apartments and Tinder when I was 25 I would be alone and have at least 2 STD's.

The 500 Crawford building across from Minute Maid looks awesome and has a prime location. It is probably more expensive than 1400 though for a 1BR. The Ballpark Lofts are just across 59 by BBVA Compass Stadium and should be cheaper. I don't know anyone who's lived there

I've had friends live at the AMLI buildings and had good experiences as well. The River Oaks one on W Gray is a great location LINK

Midtown really is a great location to live in as far as accessibility to both downtown and places around Washington and the Heights. With Uber it's easy to get everywhere, just because you live there doesn't mean you need to go out there. Not sure how old you are but there's some cheaper places in Midtown (like Metro Midtown) that aren't bad but are lots of kids right out of college and pretty crazy

I knew some folks that lived at The Westheimer as well and it was very nice. Awesome location but a little further from downtown
