Well about 50% who got married pre-“online” got divorced, and most of those wish they had never met their former spouse.
So maybe this is a good thing.
Is there any evidence showing these online hookup marriages are more sustainable, or is there even enough of a sample to determine at this point?
Not casting aspersions either way, I'm just generally curious.

How many second marriages last longer than the first for both parties?
Marriage rates are also way down in the past 50 years.

They had ways. My parents got divorced in the late 80's and my mom was meeting people through Prodigy singles ads.
Spring Break of 1990 I was 14. One day I rode my bike across town to visit this girl I liked.
I can still remember her introducing me to her mom. She looked up from the computer monitor for about 5 seconds to say hello.
She was glued to the computer screen chatting with people on Prodigy.

The world is a big place. I don’t see an issue with people meeting online.

Good question. I don’t know.
All I am saying is that the old way had a pretty high failure rate.

What if you were in college and met through friends at a bar?
Posted on 10/10/24 at 10:10 am to RaoulDuke504
I think it should be more frowned upon to try meeting someone in a bar than online lol. I don’t want a women who’s getting shitfaced and grinding on a bunch of dudes dicks. I’ve always thought it’s kinda trashy.

Crazy that people aren't meeting people through mutual friends anymore - that's hard to comprehend - How can you rather meet a stranger off the internet based off some pictures and a couple of text messages versus being set-up through trusted friends. Glad I'm not in the dating scene - last thing I'd want to do is deal with dating via an app.
Broken families and communities that would have typically filtered dating choices have led to this. Church girls don't date church guys, they date secular guys for money/looks reason. Church isn't a guide for life, it's a therapy to make one feel better.
Men trying to adapt to an increasingly female oriented world de-fanged them and made them unattractive.

I haven’t had a single date in my life that wasn’t from online.

Most all of the students that I see today have their head in their phones or are listening to ear pods. Actually talking to someone looks pretty rare.

Same for women, the girl next door is now unattainable. She went from the cute girl in your town to now having options across the globe. The regular guy isn’t enough for her anymore and always looking for something better.
As Michael Sartain put it, “The prettiest girl in your town used to marry the local dentist or car dealer. Now she’s being flown out to Dubai for yacht parties with oil shieks”.

Met my wife while in college at Parlay's.
A friend was going to meet his new girlfriend at Parlay's and asked us to come along. We get there and the girl brought her friends. After a while the cute one comes up to me and says in her best Gentilly accent "Your friend is an a-hole". I agreed. The comeback was "Why do you hang out with assholes?". My reply was that her friend was dating him. If she really had a problem then she should go talk to her friend.
I then said we should go to the World's Fair next week and you can tell me how your friend takes the news.
I little while later she accepted the date. My first question while we were hanging out at the fair. "Am i still hanging out with assholes?"

Married 35 years.

Love and the concept of “the one” isn’t real
Everyone used to marry someone that lived a mile away from them and they were happily ever after. The reason for this was because nobody got fat back then and it was legal to shoot jody

lot of people in college - many more are not - I chalk that one up to more of a sample size thing than anything else
