At close range, a 9mm bullet will go right through a person.
Especially ball ammo which is very common at Walmart and gun shows.

If it's accidental these charges are BS. The "people" need no "justice". This kid will have to suffer the rest of his life knowing what he has done. That's enough justice.

Yes. That's what I am asking. At first they said it was ruled as accidental but then it updated saying he would be charged with negligent homicide. What has to happen for something to be negligent homicide and not accidental?

It can be both accidental and negligent. Being charged with negligent homicide means that you didn't intend to kill, it was an accident caused by your negligence.

didn't the exact same thing happen a few years ago with an off duty deputy and his newly wed wife?people really need some safety training before ever touching a firearm...this was just stupid on the 19 y.o. part and could have been avoided.

I've actually had an unintentional discharge before. Cycling action post cleaning, no idea how I did it, but I loaded and chambered a round. Put a 9mm drag round into the sheetrock backstop I used to point at when cleaning.
It is am extremely humbling experience.
Following rule one is the only thing that kept it safe.
