What are your thoughts on approving a one time lump sum payment of $85,000 to an individual?

The individual would not be eligible to receive any city, state and federal assistance after the lump sum payment is made.

Could this break the cycle of generational dependence on governmental services?

Who’s going to pay for this?

And no, people who are uneducated and bad with money are going to always piss away whatever is given to them, no matter the amount.

You want to give 85K to the very people who have proven they can't handle money?

One of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard.

I would invest in rim companies, jewelry makers, and fur coat makers.

That’s just one more thing that the tax payers have to pay for, so no. I don’t support that.

the math is right for most conservatives to be in favor but they will disagree with you op

most of those on govt assistance will go through much much more than 85k over their life course

Most would blow it within one year, and be back with hands out.

I know who’d be nuts about this plan: lotteries, casinos, booze sellers, drug dealers, and tattoo parlors.

Liberals can always make “math” work in a vacuum void of logic.

Government assistance ideally is to at least keep people eating week to week. The OPs suggestion would end up people buying $85k in junk and they’d starve to death in the street. That’s the proposition here. You could make that dollar amount 1M and the end result would be the same. Most poor people make poor decisions.

I see a damn fun party for some folks. And nothing left six months later with that kind of payment.
The stupids don't manage money well in case you've never seen it first hand.

I would very much be in favor of a big payment for a woman who has proven to be a whore who just pops out unwanted kids to get a permanent fix. Make it cash. Offer it to men as well for the snip.

Tranecia and Laquanda would spend that in a week then figure out a way to complain and scam the taxpayers for more and more. So no, that wouldn’t work.

Paying a lump sum to low income individuals to get sterilized will do far more in terms of ending generational poverty.

So you’re gonna let them starve on the street when they are broke in 6 months?

People on government assistance are there because they aren’t very intelligent
