He just issued a letter that basically shuts school down for the rest of the academic year. It waves all attendance requirements for teachers and students and also waives all testing for the academic year.

The idea that schools could remain open, and applying the same standards and grading systems as they normally do, thereby affecting people's futures and careers, is baffling. Teachers need to understand that their class is not the most important thing in any student's life, especially now.

The attendance requirements were waived in the first roll out last week. Not sure if the testing was in that proclamation.

There have been planning meetings and discussions on the effects and logistics of shutting interstates down and stopping domestic travel at the request of people on state government. So far, as a result of those discussions, there has been pushback from local decision makers on truly shutting these things down.
How JBE responds going forward is anyone's guess. But these discussions have been happening.
