Though the looters ran roughshod over parts of Manhattan, The Bronx and Brooklyn for a few nights in the early part of the week — leading Cuomo to call out the NYPD, criticism he later walked back — the situation stabilized as the week wound on.

“Look at that looting,” said Cuomo. “It was frightening. … [When there’s] no police, you get looting. That’s what you get.

“Nobody wants that.”

Cuomo’s remarks came shortly after de Blasio announced that an unspecified amount of funding originally earmarked for the NYPD would be reallocated to city youth groups.

Hizzoner has faced a growing number of calls from activists, members of the City Council and educators to slash the NYPD’s $6 billion annual budget.

Wait. So you’re telling me that a trend that is happening all over the country has happened in the largest city in that country??? No way!

Let's be honest, all this money will end up in the hands of Democrat activist groups.

All of this reminds me of when Obama talked incessantly about shutting down Gitmo.

Then he got into power and realized it is more complicated than what a community organizer understands.

And no one will follow up to ask how or even if those programs are effective

Correct. The old traditional NYC democrat corruption will be revived.

I’ll be entirely honest - I misread the thread. That’s my bad. But I’ll leave my original post up as penance.

I can still remember the months after 9/11, and how everyone in that city and the country was all about the NYPD. A lot of cops died doing their jobs, and every celebrity on Earth was wearing NYPD shirts and hats. Can you imagine what would happen now if a celebrity was caught wearing clothing with that on it? Pathetic.

Let's be honest, 10% of this money will end up in the hands of Democrat activist groups, 90% in DNC's hands.
