Good stuff! Glad to hear you're improving. Take it one day at a time.

Anyway, I wanted to post an update since I'm so happy today and I wanted to share it with you all. Thanks to all those who said a prayer or two for me when I originally posted this thread and to those who have checked in with me periodically since then. While I'm at it, I ask that you all say another one for me since this fight isn't over yet but I'm definitely kicking cardiomyopathy's arse so far. Thank God I'm still young and healthy enough that I'm able to have a chance at beating this.

Prays for you. What you are going thru, that is the same path I started going down 10 years ago. My EF had got below 10%. I was at the point for a transplant. Had even was told I had less then 6 months.

Over time with meds my heart got stronger. My EF is just under 20%

35% is really not bad bad. Normal person is at 60%, so keep that in mine.

Yes, you are in a life changing even. Your will is going to be the best thing for you to live a normal life. Best thing I can tell you, Listen to your body. When you need rest, rest.

Best cardo doctors in Louisiana are at Ochsner Transplant center in New Orleans. They were the ones that has helped me big time.

If you need any info or just want to talk about this crap, let me know.

As of now, I am not only fighting HF, I am fighting ALS that is moving real fast.
God this made me sad. What a great dude, concerned for others in his condition.

Good to hear bud.

Also sort of somber to see a post from Fish on the previous page but also nice to read his kind words towards you.

Great news. I ask way too many questions, but is this somehting that will be reversed? Or managed? Either way, great news.

Technically I believe cardiomyopathy, in most cases, is like diabetes - once you're diagnosed with it you always have it. It can be managed and in rare cases I think it can be reversed but for the most part, this is something I'll always have. The key is diagnosing and treating it early so that it doesn't progress so much that it's terminal. In my case, it's beginning to look like it was caught in time since it's in the process of improving. My heart is indeed pumping significantly better now than it was in the fall and for that I am very grateful. This all started when I applied for an additional life insurance policy after my daughter was born in the summer. The company outright declined my application and told me to see a cardiologist. Hit me out of the blue!

This is what I thought. My mother in law had a similar issue as you, she managed it for a long time. She was a beautiful woman, tall and thin. But sometimes couldnt walk to the mailbox. Crazy.

Take care of yourself and stay on top of it.

Wow, that was kinda surreal to read considering fishfighter is dead now. That's sad, but that post right there is a testament to what kind of person he was...offering help to a complete stranger on an anonymous message board, despite the shite he was dealing with. That's kinda cool to think about actually.
