Ever had a colonoscopy? It's similar in discomfort, meaning it's something that sounds terrible on paper, but really is painless and forgettable. Went from -6 to near perfect vision in a mater of minutes. Perfect vision followed in a week or two. A++++. Would recommend.

Exactly. And that's what I kept picturing as they're trying to shove that thing in my eye. Doc was like, if you can't calm down we'll need to stop. I'm all, frick that, I'm here let's do this.

I sure wouldn't be letting a surgeon that didn't have it done do it to me.

I had mine done 10 years ago by Dr. Williamson in BR. Best decision ever. I paid about $2800 back then.

I wouldn't do it again. I lost sight in both eyes. Luckily my wife puts it in for me during sex now.

I guess she clicked on this thread for you to type in too.

No it doesn't matter. I have one but I just haven't done it yet.

That's actually one of the things lasik corrects. Astigmatism is caused by a misshapen cornea which they reshape with the laser

I actually don't remember. It's been about 5 years since I got my last prescription (which is why I qualified for the surgery)

Had the procedure in January of 2000. Had severe astigmatism in both eyes, left eye was 20/400. Eyes patched overnight. Next morning had 20/20 for the first time ever.

16 years later still good. I wear over the counter readers of 1.25 for small up close reading and that's all. My last eye appointment was 2 months ago. Doc said if I can get by with the readers then go for it. No need for prescription glasses.

Do get good polarized sunglasses. It helps.

If you can't really survive without glasses or contacts then I think it is well worth it. I was above -9 and have no regrets so far minus starburst on lights and seeing at night in general (its been 17 years)

I just had the LASEK procedure done and it was one of the best decisions of my life. LASEK is basically the same as LASIK but they don't have to cut and fold back the cornea any more. They can fix the vision shooting the laser thru the cornea.

The recovery is slightly longer and there is a little more discomfort but there is no flap that can come loose before it heals properly.

I had this (also known as PRK) over a year ago. My corneas were so weirdly shaped that there was no way I could have regular LASIK done, but I did eventually get approved for PRK by Dr. Shah at Ochsner Baptist. (One of the best eye doctors in the state, IMO.) I went from -6.5 in both eyes to perfect and I have zero regrets.

I went to the dr who did Harry Lees eyes. Figured if he could perform it on those squinty things mine would be a piece of cake.
