Google doodle for veterans day

Can anyone enlighten me on wtf that thing is?
I am a veteran and come from a long line of service members but until I hovered over it I had no idea it was for Veterans Day and I can’t tell what it’s supposed to be.
Before anyone pontificates on using Google it’s my corporate computer and that’s what we are allowed to use.

Steampunk Veterans Day

The Doodle was crafted by US Navy Veteran guest artist, Steve Kost. The Doodle includes a sculpture made from upcycled scrap metal found in army supply stores and veteran equine therapy centers. The sculpture, which shows an American Bald Eagle in flight, is called "Freedom Flight". It stands 28 inches tall, measures 44 inches wide from wingtip to wingtip and weighs 60 pounds.
Veterans Day, formerly known as Armistice Day, originally honored World War I veterans. In 1954, Congress renamed the holiday and expanded its recognition to include all veterans.
On Veterans Day, communities around the world come together to express their gratitude. Many send care packages and letters to those currently serving in the armed forces, while others line the streets for parades filled with waving American flags and uplifting music.
With deepest respect and admiration, we thank all veterans for their service and sacrifice.

On Veterans Day, it's always important to honor iron birds, wheels, gears, and chain. Apparently.

Thanks. I didn’t know you could look it up. I don’t use Google anything in my personal life.

Not sure it's necessarily "virtue signaling" for most. Some people still want to limit how much data is taken/used.

They might be referring to the many Commonwealth nations and France who observe Remembrance Day on November 11.

I think you guys are reading into this something that isn’t intended. According to the doodle site, this doodle is only being run in the US and what looks like Puerto Rico (it’s a big dot over little islands).
No one outside of those two areas can even see this doodle or would think to care about its description. We obviously can’t know that they aren’t trying to make some kind of globalized statement, but it just wouldn’t really make sense within this context.

On the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918, the Great War in Europe came to an end.
People all over the world use Google.
It's not all about you.
Happy Armistice Day.

They are clearly saying this is to celebrate veterans globally that fought for countries other than the US.
Bizarre.
Bizarre.

That's great, Armistice Day isn't Veteran's Day. We have our own celebration for our own troops.
Google has the ability to change their doodle based on your IP location, which they do all the time.

They used the proper noun of "Veterans Day". From the VA's website:
quote:
purpose of Veterans Day: A celebration to honor America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

You don't think there's anything global about a "world war"?
