Amazing the number of services that rely on their cloud services.

quote:

PSN, Google Hangouts, Google Cloud, YouTube TV, Shopify, Google Play, Google, Drive, Discord, Vimeo, Uber, Uber Eats, Snapchat, Nest, Gmail, YouTube, Rocket League, Pokemon Go, Cox, Steam, TESO, Reddit, Soundcloud are all laggy or down.
including thousands of other services.

Apparently a major hack attempt was made.
If GCP gets hacked imagine the amount of data the hackers would leave with, so I definitely hope not, considering probably 80% of internet services use GCP in some form.

Good heavens no

AWS or Azure would be much more painful and in that order.

WE need something like this every once in a while....keeps our society from getting to dependent on a single service.

The largest pharmaceutical distributor in the world recently signed a deal with GCP to host all of their compute. It's not just trite media shite that could be inconvenienced.

TD is run by a gerbil farm. Chicken's safeguard to being hacked.

What's alarming is the number of businesses that use multiple cloud services for different things. I've worked for at least two places like that. They're susceptible to either one (or any of the three) going down.

Should this really come to a surprise to anyone? When the fappening first came out, I knew then that the cloud was absolute shite. Nothing that has happened since then has proved me wrong. But I'll let yall sheep keeping using it.
