The company cited two major factors in its decision to end the service: its small and unengaged user base, and a newly announced privacy lapse affecting up to 500,000 users.

Social media is one of those things that has to grow organically, which means taking the long way to your destination.

I could see how it was tempting for Google to think that their hundreds of millions of Gmail users would migrate with a snap of the fingers but it just doesn't work that way.

Remember Google Wave?

I actually thought those real-time conversations would replace internal e-mail for a minute.

RIP.

Damn, I was basically using it as a free online picture and meme storage service

I set everything to private and uploaded anything I didn't want on my devices but wanted to keep

G+ - something only worried about by gays and minorities making up 5% of the country at most.

Stay safe, get tested today.

Hangouts is pretty big now. Especially for enterprise. Google has so much damn cash and ad market share that only one idea out of 20 actuallly needs to work.

Looks like someone has a bad habit.

Tell your friend, he will go blind before they get rid of that option.
