Talk about a stupid arse

Not to mention it is a crime to knowingly leave another person in need of assistance at sea.

Who has a Yak on a fishing boat, specially in Cancun area.

They went for a ride from shore, and fricked up.

Its pretty common for sailboats to have them to use to get ashore where there ain't no docks. Make a pretty good dinghy all things considered. In this case made a pretty good life boat...

I think Drop4Less is on the right track. Just securing a kayak on any boat is difficult; getting it loose is nigh impossible unless you're really good at marlinspike. These two?

Or are they immigrants who don't want to wade the Rio Grande?

I understand that people do it but they are pushing their own limits for the most part....I fished a pair about 10 miles off Destin about 10 years ago and they had no idea how far offshore they were and which way the hill was. Luckily for them there were about 65,000 boats within site of them but they were still pushing their own limits.

I watched a video of a dude fighting a grander marlin off one in the Pacific for nearly 12 hours. He had a mother ship following him so he wasn't in much danger of being lost at sea BUT even small Marlin are meaner than shite and routinely attack boats when they are hooked...the only reason that one did not is he never knew he was hooked. Had it did what Marlin are wont to do at times it would have killed him like someone stomping a roach. It eventually rubbed through the leader but that fish towed that kayak about 40 miles in a circle and was actively feeding part of the time, it never knew it was hooked. Thats just stupid.

It is not uncommon in that part of the world for a boat to have kayaks, jet skis and even a decent sized center console fishing boat stored inside the hull. Some of the have helicopters attached to them. Some will even have a damn car somewhere on board. It did not say what size boat sank, just that one sank.

I routinely strap 2 hybrid duck boats inside my 2072 jon boat going down the highway at 80MPH and across a body of water at 30. Where there is a will there is way. A sizeable part of sandbar culture in Florida involves strapping all manner of shite to a boat and spending a day away from the hill. Kayaks are very common in that situation.

I appreciate your level of self-awareness. For the record, my white arse is standing with you. That said, these two guys didn't really pick this particular situation.

In areas where island hopping is normal seeing all sorts of small boats strapped to larger boats is common. Even in SELA I often load our two 10' yaks on the bow of our cruiser and strap them to the bow rails. We anchor up, drop them over the side, and paddle up into the skinny waters.

There is a Yeti commercial where old boy loads a kayak into a damn nice flats boat, runs to a flat, unloads the yak and continues up the flat to fish. It is a pretty common practice.

You didn't even have to click on the link to read and know that they were in kayaks because their boat sank. They didn't voluntarily choose to go kayaking in the gulf's open waters.

So just thinking out loud..... their boat had kayaks as flotation devices? Just doesn't make sense. There's more to this story.

17 passengers on a 26 ft boat. Yeah, I’m sure it did take on some water.
