Same here. We kept the large rolling bins for the truck to pick up and have guys manually dumping those. Looks worse than back in the rubbermaid round bin days

People fill these to the brim with loose trash. We only put bags in ours and im sure they appreciate not having to lift the whole rolling bin. I also put heavy stuff in bags on side of bin for them.

Roger, you talking about jobs in Alaska? If so, doing what? Took a trip last year to Alaska and would love to find some work out there - such beautiful scenery over there. I somehow doubt you are looking for IT nerdwork, but if you are I may need to send an email

How often do those days occur in Baton Rouge area? Even still, a few days of that over an entire scorching summer of hot steaming garbage smell? Yeah, I'll take the winter time.

#1 it’s the solid waste transportation industry.

#2 it’s not stinky garbage it is the smell of money.

#3 A professional hopper stays in good shape. They also know after the hurricanes, you have extra garbage that needs picking up, they hide out.

I live out in the country and don't have city pick up. I pay a sanitation company to have a 4 yard dumpster that they come out and empty weekly.

I love those trash dudes. I treat them way better than the UPS, USPS,etc because they're good old baws. They came out to empty the dumpster today and gave everyone of them an ice cold brew. We bullshitted around for a bit in the shade so they could cool off.

When I was real young my older sister would tell me the garbage man was gonna get me. My dad was pitching to me once in the yard. He heard a noise, turned his head and said, "the garbage mans coming". He said, "I turned back around and the bat was still in the air but jeffsdad was gone." I think thats when they told my sister to quit saying that to me.

Why do you always post in these threads and always leave out the part about being in….Alaska?

I don't know where this shite started, but ever since I was in my late teens there have been hordes of people saying that if someone worked X or Y trade they'd be making 80k+ with no student debt. That may be possible for some tradesmen who have years of experience and work on special projects or their own business or do loads of OT, but most skilled tradesmen (depending on trade) make anywhere from 55-65k a year.

All depends on who is and who isn’t making these claims. Where I have worked the last 12 years the base pay is 31 per hour

That requires no less than a high school diploma or ged.

We have 285- 300 employees at any given time and always hiring. It is all union and I could do without that but there are at least 10 other places in our city paying better than that at the moment for the same work

I used to feel the same way you do but there are places that pay great wages, although sometimes hard to get on, easily get you into ‘six figures’ with a small amount of OT
