Pussy arse caliber. What kind of guns they using at the force? I know the 357 mag would have drop the perp after the 1st or 2nd bullet. No need to 10+ shots with it

Not necesssrily.

Trooper Coates was killed in South Carolina after shooting suspect 6 times in the chest and stomach with a .357 mag....as he turned to move to cover the suspect fired one shot from the ground and struck Coates in his armpit and the .22 caliber round entered his heart and killed him.

The suspect survived.

Argument could be made that putting a bullet or two into him was acceptable risk to the innocent based upon the situation, but continuing to fire bullets into him while he was on the ground continued to jeopardize the public.

Handguns arent very efficient at stopping people...

For example...

An officer in Florida (name escapes me) was in a foot pursuit with a suspect. The suspect stop abruptly, turned and shot the officer in the face.

After falling down, the officer drew his weapon as the suspect continued to walk toward him firing rounds into him (mainly into the officers vest and legs)

The officer returned fire striking the suspect numerous times in the chest, stomach, and shoulders. Finally the officer was able to grab the suspect pull him down toward him...put the gun to his head and fire...that is what finally stopped the suspect.

The LE folks there should consider whether they should have a .12 gauge shotgun easily available.

Man that’s a lot of wild shooting with zero regard for what’s down range.

And piss poor muzzle control. I don't think there is worse shooters than some LEOs. They get free range time, free ammo, and still can't shoot worth a shite.

There is a big difference in shooting targets in a peaceful setting and shooting under stress when your target can shoot back.

I am very aware. Having done both I know the difference. When you are in a job where that may happen it is up to you to be proficient to the point an off the chart pucker factor doesn't cause you to lose your shite.

Your statement doesn't excuse piss poor performance by these LEOs.

I do not care that he was shot, I do not care that he still being shot on the ground. I did have a slight worry that the cops would hit one another.

This video made me think of the scene at the end of the Outsiders when Matt Dillon gets taken out.

Very true. I guarantee Peter Soulis would agree.

Peter Soulis shooting incident

I've read about quite a few shooting incidents where numerous rounds were needed. Definitely keep spare mags around.

quote:

The Aftermath
Remarkably, Palmer had taken 22 hits from Soulis’ .40-caliber Glock, 17 of which had hit center mass. Despite the fact that the weapon had been loaded with Ranger SXTs considered by many to be one of the best man-stoppers available Palmer lived for more than four minutes after the last shot was fired. His autopsy revealed nothing more than a small amount of alcohol in his bloodstream. Although Soulis could not have known it, Palmer was wanted for murder in a neighboring state.

well look here, Robocop, whenever you feel you can do it better while under fire (or the threat of fire) you go ahead and go join the PD. I'm sure they'd love to have someone with your ability. You obviously would perform better while taking fire from a fleeing perp. Let us know how it goes

What about when the purp is on the ground and not causing a threat? If a civilian would’ve pumped another magazine plus into a suspect after the threat is neutralizedI bet he’d have to be hiring an attorney. Doesn’t matter when it’s the boys in blu though. By god you respect them or just go join the force yourself!
