Alonda at 5.5 salon. She's the best.

Ah damn
Think mine charges $55 for a cut, straight edge shave. Plus I typically drink about 2 glasses of whiskey or gin and tonic
Think it's $40 without the straight edge cocktails still included

I used to go to One 2 One salon on oak st when I lived over there. It was right by my work.
It's definitely not a barber shop catered to men, but they do a good job on the cut. The women are all pretty cute too. I think it was around $30 if I'm remembering right.

There's a place like Aidan Gill on Hampson street uptown right off Maple. Cheaper than AG and former AG employees who split off. They just changed the name to something I'm unsure of but you should be able to look it up.
Modern Men Barbershop, been there for about 4 years

I go to the Family barbershop on Oak, which is actually a male, first come, first serve shop. $20 for a cut.

Will recommend as well. Usually can get an appointment same week if you have an open schedule.

If you go to the shop on Oak, wait for Ed, don't let Ed's wife cut your hair. Now, if Bud is in there, that'll be a great experience. Bud is the original owner of the shop. He's a WWII veteran, and an old Navy man. He'll take about 45 minutes to cut your hair and talk your ear off. The cut won't be that bad, but he's a living legend. (If he's still alive.)

Why does seemingly every old man barber shop in New Orleans have that one old yatty woman that you have to look rude to avoid getting her to cut your hair?

Go to pauls place on airline. Right across from zephyr field. Make sure you have time because you will be in the chair for at least 40 mins. Place has been there since the 50's
$12 for a cut and &12 for a shave. You will get a straight razor around the neck line every time.
If your black, don't go. They don't know how to cut black people hair (I've heard them tell a black walk in before)
It's 2 old men, be sure to wait for perry
You can thank me later

Yes he is. I think he is about 94. He can't hear and likes to talk so it does take a lot longer to get a cut.
Ed has really helped rebuild the client base so the place can be a bit packed when they are open. For some inexplicable reason they decided to start closing on Saturday.

Francis, he's a Vietnamese guy on Poydras Street who includes a free 45 minute rant on Obama, Pope Francis, and other communists with every $20 haircut. Well worth the price of admission.

Magazine Street Barber Shop
A guy named Nathan used to cut my hair at Aiden then he moved over to Magazine Street Barber Shop. I think I recently left there to open his own place. I'd recommend going to him. Does a pretty good job.

I think Nathan is still at Magazine. He answered the phone when I called a few days ago.

I will second Francis although I will add all inclusive travel or cruise pricing to the preferred discussion topics

Ah okay, maybe I was misinformed. Someone told me he set up his own shop.
I started getting my haircut elsewhere since February so I wouldn't know.

Algie Hailey's on Metairie Road. There's nothing more old school than this place. Heck, these guys are so old they lost their jobs when the Beatles were popular.
