So weed should be outlawed bc it’s a stepping stone for some people to making choices that harm themselves?

I thought we were all about personal choice, responsibility, and freedom. Let’s list things that are either bad for you or can lead to bad things for you.

Alcohol, tobacco, prescription medication, guns, knives, soda, fast food, fried food, lack of exercise, porn. Yet weed is the only one we outright forbid. Where’s your complain that we glorify alcohol culture, smoking culture, sexually violent culture, gun worshipping culture, unhealthiness and fatness culture??

All of the above have just as many negative consequences as a result of people abusing them. This kid actually began his descent bc of his prescription medication. More people die from fatness than any other “ailment.” Either you want all of the above to be forbidden/mandated by the govt just like weed, or you’re a massive hypocrite

I feel bad for drug addicts families.

However, at what point do we change our collective philosophy regarding treatment? This kid was in and out of rehab. It didn't work.

Eventually we need to see results. Can't just keep funding rehabs with terrible success rates.

Did you read the other one? I just added that one to the OP. It's on an attorney that got caught up on drugs too. It's out of control.

You can say the same about alcohol, the deadliest drug on the planet.

In this case, mom consented to having her kid hopped up on synthetic methamphetamine for the dubious ADHD diagnosis. That was the start. Not weed.

“I found out that he had started smoking marijuana,” she recalls. “And he was getting in trouble for little things. Then, he was caught in the bathroom snorting his ADHD medicine … and at that point, I freaked out.”

quote:

“I knew he was dabbling with alcohol,” April says, “and after that, I suspected that a friend had introduced him to opioids. But I wasn’t aware of it until things got out of hand.”

quote:

April discovered that Bryce was abusing Roxycodone and Oxyontin, two very strong narcotic painkillers. She then sent him back to treatment.

quote:

Once Bryce earned his GED, the addiction continued to fuel itself, despite his desire to stop. He was snorting cocaine, abusing opioids, smoking marijuana and continuing to get in trouble.

quote:

Later that year, Bryce got his first DWI after shooting heroin and falling asleep at a red light. His foot was still on the brake when cops arrived.

quote:

“The day before, he called me and asked me for $40,” April says while crying. “He said he needed cigarettes and gas. I told him no, that I would buy him cigarettes and gas, but I wouldn’t give him money. He said, ‘OK, mama … I love you.’ And that’s the last time I talked to him.”

Gee, who who could have foreseen an overdose coming?
