I'm gonna be honest, other than using his position of authority to woo a student, I don't really have a problem with it.

Not sure who all that covers outside of teachers and I'm not adding it to my search history to find out.

Correct. I read a few articles and they all said "Student", not female or male.

I bet there is local knowledge in this thread. Some posters here probably know this student's family and can remember when he/she was born. This may be why some are so sure it is a she.

The Advocate said he

quote:

was booked on two counts of prohibited sexual conduct between an educator and a student and one count of malfeasance in office,

...so I guess not charged with statutory rape

The article doesn't say if it was a male or female student.

Not a female teacher, so it's rape.

It's sickening," Kristen Oliver told News 2's Brett Buffington. "It's sickening for someone to want to mess with a 17-year-old kid."

I wonder if this chick has seen what 17 year old girls look like nowadays. I mean technically it's illegal, but sickening? frick no.

If only females knew what went on in guys brains they would be disgusted.

Oliver lives near Aguillard and is now worried for her son's safety.

Oh come the frick on

And it's another dumb law that represents overcriminalization of everything. This guy has a good chance of being put on the sex offender registry, he'll be out in 5-8 years and we will wind up having to support him with our tax dollars when he can't find a job after that because it will follow him everywhere and no one wants to hire him. He'll likely turn to actual crime that actually victimizes people.

It's such a self destructive cycle and we really need to ruining non violent offenders out of a misplaced sense of justice. The power of labeling literally ruins people.

And yet he did it all to himself. He knew the law and literally said "frick it"

Seriously, can we just make one thread for all of these teachers? I feel like there's a new one every week.

but he did break a law, so it should be enforced.

So is the law about husbands walking ahead of the woman driving while carry a warning flag/sign law still on the books? Used to be the law regarding women driving in New Orleans and unless legislated off the books then applying your logic....

How about the spitting on sidewalks laws that were passed due to TB prior to antibiotics? Guess once pot is legalized the drug task forces can be reassigned to the sidewalk watch.

Let's not even bring up illegal aliens and Sanctuary Cities.

Point is, selective enforcement occurs all day every day.

A teacher can do a student in high school regardless of age without being charged for a sex crime.

I believe it's just a misdemeanor with no sex offender registration. Of course they also slapped on a malfeasance which is a felony I believe. Too early to look it up.

They haven't released the sex. And they quote a neighbor with a son as being concerned about this teacher, so it could have been a male-male relationship. How will the OT apply it's double standard judgement now?

Age is irrelevant here. Teachers shouldn't be fricking students.
