Armed Robbery – This is taking something of value from another person by use of force or intimidation while armed with a dangerous weapon. The weapon does not necessarily need to be a gun – it can be any object that is used to intimidate — a knife, for example, would be sufficient. This crime carries a minimum sentence of 10 years to a maximum of 99 years –meaning that if you are convicted of the crime, the minimum sentence you will receive is 10 years but it could possibly be more. If a firearm is used during the robbery, there is the potential for an additional 5 years of prison time. In this situation, the potential maximum prison sentence is 104 years.

Maybe Automatic 99 years was a bad way to say it. But from what I heard, almost no one goes to trial over this because 99 years is typically handed out if you lose.

Nothing in there says 99 is automatic.

Now that may be what the judges do in reality, but I was wondering if there was something in the law saying it was automatic.

Based on pics it looks like <$5k was stolen. Anymore than that and the teller could risk losing her/his job. Sad, but true. Tellers must keep min amt of cash in top drawer.

Armed Robbery is an automatic 99 years in Louisiana

He never showed a gun. This is bullshite that alot of criminals know. Look at the strong-arm robberies in new orleans now.

Lot less severe punishment if you just punch someone and take their wallet.
