Any of ya'll do this?

I went to OM out of highschool. Dicked around for 5 years. Graduated with a pointless major. Now have a job that honestly isn't terrible. Can make a fine living doing what I do. But I know I can do more. But would need to go back to school to do so.

But now I'm married and have a kid. Is it realistic to even consider or do any of ya'll have any experiences with it and was it worth it/ at the end of it all would you go back again?

I know I'll get 90% shitty replies here but just hoping for that 10% to have some actual advice.

If I were you, I'd do it, if it gets you a career you love.

Best of luck to you, Man.

I'm 25, and I won't graduate for at least another year. On top of that, I'll likely need to attend grad school to reach the profession I have my eyes set on. It's pretty unbearable watching your friends from high school making legitimate money while you're hitting the books and settling for some measly part-time job.

But if it's something you want then dammit you should go out and get it.

33 and going back, but just a couple classes and then masters in that field. Was in retail and got hit with a restructure. Blessing in disguise.

I am 28 but not married and with no kids. I went back 2 years ago after a few years off. It has easily been the best decision I have made. I left a job I hated and now work for a great company that I hope to work full time when I finish.

I am right now.. I'm married with no kids. My back began to hurt, so I decided I'd wear the white hard hat instead. Luckily my past construction experience is an asset with my almost complete building construction degree. Quite honestly I'm happy I'm in school now. I know exactly what I want to do and value all of my building science classes.

Went back at 30 to finish my PhD. Have a wife and young son, but I absolutely love my decision.

Will the current job you have pay for or reimburse you for any advanced degrees? Any opportunity for advancement within the company you work for by gaining an advanced degree? Not happy with your current job? Are you seeking more of a white collar career vs a blue collar job? Late 20's isn't old when you consider that you may have 30 or so years of employment left. Would depend on how happy I was in my current job/career, how long it would take me to complete another degree and is the earning potential higher with that degree.

If you want to do it, do it.

You can finish a major in 2 years if you have all the gen ed requirements transferred.

I did it without the family part so it wasn't that big of a deal. I was in school with a few people in your situation and they seemed to do it just fine. Gotta look at the long term I guess. Plenty of these guys were ex military though so I guess it wasn't much of a change for them

I was late 20's with a master degree doing research in a science lab and miserable. Got engaged decided to go to PA school. I now make 100k more than I was making, work 14 days a month. Married with 2 kids now and paying off my debt but much happier. If it will benefit your family go for it

Yes.

Are you planning on doing it online or in-person? If you've already had the campus experience, then just do an online program so you don't have to worry about going to a physical classroom.
