I like Go Fund Me for these situations. I am no OT Baller but I like to help people where I can plus I don't really give to a church. Makes me feel good to help others in my community so it really is selfish in a way.

Did you look into Ronald McDonald House? They are usually great at providing a free place for family to stay while their children are in the hospital.

We did and are on the waiting list. They have a 45 day max stay I believe and $25/day fee which may be excusable. You nay be able to reapply after the 45 days. Some of our other options were an Extended Stay or rent an apartment. With the apartment we would need furniture. We talked about if we did have to purchase some furniture, we could donate it to the Ronald McDonald house or find a family in our same situation and donate it to them after our stay concluded. You get to know the families next to your child's bed.

This may be a stupid question but can you start a page in each place? I was not aware you could only do one crowd funding site for each incident you are requesting help with.

Good luck with that little feller.

Make sure you add photos, don't let it just be a story.

Thanks to the positive feedback from this thread, knowing the tough criticism of the OT, we went ahead and did a YouCaring fund.

The link is in the OP and can be found HERE

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers, and any donations.

Not trashy at all.

But isn't that exactly what Ronald McDonald House does?

Pretty much. We have been on the waiting list for a week so far. Once in, you can stay for 45 days, then you have to step out for 7, and then reapply to the list. So you may need to find a temporary place in between stays which could be another 14+ days at a hotel or airbnb. There is also a daily rate at Ronald McDonald of $25/day.

I'd do anything that I thought could help my son, especially if I wasn't sure if I could cover all the costs myself.

That's one situation that warrants zero fricks on how I'm perceived.

Good luck.

Look into charities such as Greg Olsen's " The Heartest Yard" and others dealing with your situation. That's the local one I know of dealing with your situation, but I'm sure there are some in Houston. Good luck!

I have been in a similar situation, we stayed in houston for a little over a month at TCH which felt like 2 years. Couldn't ask for better people than the staff there. You're in good hands.

We stayed at ronald McDonald but eventually pulled a relative's camper there and rented at a campground not far from the hospital, felt a little more like home. Something to think about if you/your family has a camper.

Keeping your little man in our thoughts and prayers

I'm going to share your link with coworkers/contractors where I am as well.

TCH is a great place.

Almost 20% there. When the weekday gang arrives, that should give it a nice bump.
