I dunno. If he was trying to perv on her, he sure could have been more subtle about it. He kinda comes off as a low intelligence fella trying to say she was impressive and attractive and went about it in a dumb way. I didnt get a rapey vibe watching it. More like aw shucks, you sure is purdy and smart!

This reminds me of the time I was working at South Cameron high school while they were having track practice. There was a group of us around the superintendent and he straight up complimented the young girls wearing short shorts. He said he looked forward to this time every day. Everyone gave each other the look of WTF.

You don’t understand how this dude doing this and no one speaking up for her would make her feel diminished? Why are you so hung up on that word?
ETA: They’re not saying someone appropriate simply complimenting her would diminish her. You’re making a thing out of the person saying that while excluding the context of the situation.

no one is missing what your saying, but they are seeing is that the way you worded your initial post is that you didn't see a problem with what he said, or how he said it to her. it may not have been your intent, but it is how it comes across in the post.
yes you came back and said it was "gross", but your keying on what a person wrote about it - and in doing so, it still seems your ok with what he said, on some level, even saying your not defending him.
instead of being outraged at an article and it's choice of wording, be outraged that the creepy frick is working around children,

you can roll your eyes man, but the fact is everyone here is bothered by this creepy frick, what he said, and the fact it was not brought up during the meetings - whereas you are hung up on a "sensationalist" word used in an article, and focusing on that.
