Put a small BBQ pit in the boat with some steaks. Go out to one of the tiny islands and have steaks with the boy. Potatoes could be pre-cooked in foil and rewarmed on the pit.

Probably pack some sandwiches. We still love to do that when we fish. Wife will wake up about 4pm then have to go back to work at 9pm. May cook some steaks on the grill after we come back in. Easy dinner that I can do alone.

Same here. Both parents are still living, which is a blessing, but getting older and starting to really slow down. They have always been do'ers but getting in their 80's has kicked their asses.
