Hooray for new engine technology that costs twice as much to build, twice as much to maintain, and performs no better

Initially it does, but you gotta move forward.

Before you shite on Ford design any more

Oh and here is another Tid Bit of info. If our motors suck so bad why did GM use aspects from both the 4.6 and the 5.0 for use in their LS/Vortech design. Some of the head design from the 302 was used for the LS motors. Y block design is a design element that came from Ford but from the 4.6. I mean the 4.6 had the composite intake before the LS1, the similarities are not coincidence. Some of the people from the Gen III program admited to having both the 302 and the 4.6 in the shop to help aid in design. They do that all the time. So yes the LS1 is the best Chevy motor that ford built. The only thing those guys can say anything about is the Cathedral head design being different, but there are still elements from the 302.

I think the new V8 powered 1/2 tons have the heavier 10 bolt axle from the 3/4 ton trucks now. I'm thinking the 6.2L is probably why they went that route.

There is nothing any of you can post from some random website that actually proves that turbo V6 is progress over the traditional V8s. They were billed as gas savers, but that was a lie. Be a man, and drive a V8.

Do the profits include overseas sales? Buick was a big seller in China.

It's a multi-national, so this is their 2Q profits in total....but the WSJ is crediting most of the growth in profits on their impressive performance with retail sales in North America specifically.

Chevrolet, Buick, and Cadillac are doing remarkably well in Asia-Pacific though. Buick is a popular car in China. I think they are in the process of merging production of Chevrolets and Holdens in South Korea (cars) and Thailand (mostly trucks and SUVs).

The mileage they promote for the 5.3 is based on 2wd models with rear-end gearing so high that they're next to useless for pulling a trailer and a lowrider front end with an air dam that looks like a catfish and can barely clear a curb. That figure is a sham in the rear world, with a truck you'd actually want to own.

as does every other competitor.

To no avail.

The fact that my 1994 Chevrolet half ton was easily capable of 22mpg on the highway should piss everyone off.

Here we are with tech that dwarfs that shitty electronic carburetor crap my old truck had, in vehicles that base retail in excess of $25k, with 20+ years of manufacturing improvements, and we can't get more than 25mpg from a truck to save our asses.

I see a lot of Latino construction workers driving new Silverados and Sierras. Lenders must be giving out money to everybody.

You do know that Ford took 5.9 billion in TALF loans at the same time right?

Link?

Anything?

To even remotely compare Ford's response to GM'S response to an economic crisis is to openly admit that you don't understand business at all, and in particular you don't understand the inherent risks in capitalism that made this country great.

Ford's executive team will be studied and admired for years. GM's team will skulk off into obscurity.
