Same here. I’ll get one eventually. But I’ve recently messed up the plugs in my sierra, so I’ve been stuck without CarPlay anyway.

I think they add the ability to watch YouTube and other apps on the screen, which would be of use to me as I’m killing time at work. But it’s a luxury as of now.

I don't actually want wireless. I like my phone charged all the time.

And the wireless setups I’ve seen are a bit laggy and the audio isn’t as good as a wired setup.

I prefer wired even though my vehicle has wireless charging pad — it’s so fickle and you have to set it just right to charge. Hit a bump? Gotta readjust it.

I don't have it in my 2017 either. I get the feeling I'm going to be still driving this thing in 2030 too

You can use some of the apps on your phone on your car's infotainment system. Including using Siri making hands-free operation a lot easier. It was a major factor when I bought my truck a few years back and I won't buy another vehicle without it.

My Audi does.

CarPlay is a must have for any vehicle purchase of mine. It's that good.

GM is taking a page from Tesla's handbook. Which means Ford and VW won't be far behind.

Oddly enough our Yukon (built by GM) has wireless Carplay and we love it. Their whole UI/UX is far superior to what's in my Toyota truck. Toyota didn't even put Carplay into some of their vehicles until very recently, and the rest of their UI is weak.

We use wireless Apple Carplay in that Yukon almost every time we use the vehicle. Getting rid of it would be a mistake IMO, but I'm sure GM is trying to find another subscription revenue stream to eventually replace the revenue that will evaporate as they phase out OnStar - which provides some value, but it's old school by modern standards and doesn't integrate with GM's own UX. It's similar to the SOS feature on Toyota's and Chryslers.

What they replace it with will likely be very well developed. GM is VERY good with their in-vehicle infotainment software. But you know damn well that they are going to charge for the features they are taking away, and then they+ Google will have that user data rather than Apple. That's their game.

We'd probably better get used to this. This subscription service crap is coming.

screw this phone shite, they need to hurry up with ultra cruise. super cruise is great but id love to have more self driving options.

If they don't charge for Super Cruise, I'd be shocked. It's a $5,000+ option on the Denalis and the Cadillacs. I hear excellent things.

Do they charge monthly on top of that for updated software?

My wife has Toyota and they have some shitty program called Entune. It sucks arse and I hate it.

My Toyota's Entune system is garbage. It's 10+ year old tech and probably behind the pack even back then.

I love my Toyota and I'm anxiously awaiting news on the new Land Cruiser, but their Entune system is complete shite. Their UI is so bad that they are going to infuriate customers if they ever canceled Car Play.

Nah, Ford said they are going in the opposite direction.

Thats nice but GM people who are also big apple fans might choose another vehicle line since carplay has become such a huge PLUS in cars. Terrible move.

I never use Siri so probably don’t know what I’m missing

The Bluetooth feature on my truck and RAV4 work well but I pretty much only use it to listen to music or podcasts

I really only use mine for calls and texts. I don't think I've ever even played music or anything on it.

I have the shitty Ford Sync stuff.

Questionable move that puts profit over customer sentiment. I have a 2020 Sierra and use Carplay pretty much everytime I get in the truck, but it pisses me off that it doesn't show the temperature outside on the Carplay screen. 1st world problem, but I've got 99 of 'em

Voice command "Call Sun God". Sync "calling Bob" the sales guy I've been dodging for weeks

I had a 2023 Mazda CX-5 rental last week that only worked with wired car play. Also, went and looked at a Volvo XC60 for Mrs. H2O Tiger and the 2023's still have wired Android Auto but they were hoping to push an update to allow for it soon. So they still exist.

I’m extremely anti voice command so I’ve never even attempted to use it in my truck
