I would guess that blue collar wages are higher in Louisiana than some of the other surrounding states due to the chemical plant salaries. Operators, mechanics, electricians etc all make good money here and completion for staff is real.

That and out government is not good at courting business if it is not something that almost has to be here due to natural resources.

Look at how every metro area in LA treats businesses. You will find your answer.

For a building that GM invested 1 billion back in 2000-2003 not to mention the bld GM built in the 80s that was re outfitted as a full cab shop for the H3. 2012 was doors closed and it’s been shuttered since. Gm built the Bld. The city owns the land. Why wouldn’t GM want to invest in their own shuttered plant????

Maybe so but Exxon, then Standard Oil fleeced this poor state into 3rd world before it was 3rd world.

How did Louisiana miss out on all of the car plants over the past 20 years?
Because our crooked politicians immediately want to start making demands on what they’re gonna get out of it (them, not the state). That scares away any possible deal that could ultimately benefit the state.

Was the corruption of Louisiana that made Sasol over budget? Genuinely curious..

It's more than that. We've had a mix of Republican and Democrat governors for decades. Louisiana isn't as business friendly as most other Southern states and then there is our legal and political climate to deal with as well.

It’s almost as if companies don’t want to invest in a state with crumbling infrastructure, massive traffic, poor public schools, an unhealthy populace, corrupt politicians and subject to frequent hurricanes

Because it’s located in Shreveport.

Please explain how a private corporation one that has paid hundreds on millions in taxes over the last 50 years, has fleeced the citizens of LA?

The same one providing hundreds of 6 figure jobs?

They are retooling a factory in Detroit to build EV’s. Are you telling me that Detroit > Shreveport?

The invisible hand would seem to be telling us all that.
