There will never be a demand for EV trucks.

There will be. Fleets are already looking to transition but the cost of capital is keeping them from going in deeper. Consumers will warm to it similarly to the cars as more people realize they fit the needs for the vast majority of the population. It just takes time.

They work pretty well for most fleets that use the 100 mile dot exemption, which is a lot. Not having to stop and fuel up and not idling all day are big efficiency gains and save companies a lot of money.

Then there should be no reason for the government to subsidize EV tech or penalize ICE tech via regulation.

If this demand is real and the performance is truly comparable, then it will grow organically.

They are not that freaking special or awesome.

This push for that crap is stupid.

Plus, a shite ton of people can not afford $85,00 and higher vehicles

Looking vs reality are very much different things. Fleet managers are moving back to gasoline-powered trucks over diesel as the cost savings that diesel proponents touted were never realized when the real world data was looked at. Imagine it will be the same for EV's.

We shouldn’t subsidize anything. But that cats been out the bag for way too long.

Chevy Camaro. GM and Ford has canceled affordable models like the Sonic, Cruze, Focus, Fusion, Regal, and Taurus while shoveling cash into EV development.

These cars were discontinued due to the market falling in love with CUVs.

They’re transitioning already. Leaving diesels for gas has been happening for a decade now. I was doing that with enterprise lease deals in 2013. Companies that have the capex are putting in orders for the GM work trucks. I’ve seen POs for over 20k units already from my little slice of the world.

If you are not towing about all the time I don't know why someone, or a company, would buy diesel pickups today.

Between the far higher purchase price, higher maintenance costs and insane repair costs making them pencil out has to be difficult.

Because the hands piss and moan that they need a diesel so they can idle 6.7 liters all day to keep the cabin at 62 degrees. Which is the kind of shite that makes the EV truck use case really fricking easy to make.

You can thank EPA regs like DPF and DEF requirements that essentially make a diesel truck a rolling emissions scrubber.

Diesel is the most reliable engine technology if you don't have all of the emissions garbage added on.

This is the same government that managed to screw up a gas can...

A couple tidbits from Tesla's earnings call today;

"We dug our own grave with the Cybertruck."-Musk's exact words.

They don't expect to see Cybertruck to start adding to the bottom line for at least 12 to 18 months even though they plan to do a delivery event on Nov. 30.

Mexican factory on hold due to high interest rates and concerns about the economy.

*Plants working below a two shift capacity are money pits. Keeping them running adds to the supply glut. There is already too much supply on the EV side.

They've put such over the top restrictions on locomotive emissions the big railroads are rebuilding (basically making them brand new) 20+ year old locomotives versus buying new ones.

The new ones are insanely complex as the rails don't want to mess with DEF so they are EGR among other things.

Reminds me of when we dusted off all those 71 series after all the emissions and class 1 div 2 shite came out.

Those PO's going to wait while GM idles the plant? They can't be that serious if they can wait that long.
