Wait a minute. Why the hell would you add ANOTHER puppy:
...if you were already having problems with Dog 2, the one you have been bitching about for a while? No wonder it's still giving you problems, it feels like it's getting replaced, which was your/your wife's intention when getting the terrier.
ETA: I'm glad you decided to keep it, so kudos to you for that.

I gave my wife a stern look and text message.
Dog 3 was the right move and the right dog. The order of events was obviously wrong.
What kind of job can you give a dog that lives to hunt wild hogs? I've seen "leave them in the yard to patrol". I've seen weighted packs. You guys got anything?

We had a Jack Russell mix that had to be put down months ago.

I don't know how to train a redneck dog. I've only trained Labs.
But I can tell you this, with a working dog, no matter if you are going to hunt him or not, you should train him as if you were. Obedience is 90% of it, and is reinforced by the training methods that have been developed to that dog at hunting, so let him think that's what your doing.
