Thank them for their time at the start.

More pics/charts/schematics and less words will allow you to wing it. Each slide should have a tagline or some point you’re trying to convey. Nobody knows what you had planned to say vs what comes out of your mouth.

Don’t read the slides word for word, that’s a rookie mistake that many people continue to make.

Thank them for their time at the end.

I just get those jitters

You're just excited about it. It is rather exhilarating speaking before a crowd.
Just don't frame it so negatively to yourself and you'll feel so much better about doing it.

Get a little drunk first. A pitcher of beer or 2 really loosens you up.

You’re going to pee your pants. Might as well pretend to spill something on yourself first so they can’t tell.

I usually get a little nervous leading up to the presentation...but if I actually put the material together myself, I know it well and have no problem with it once I get rolling.

ETA: I always be sure to run through and practice a few times the night before. When I say practice, I mean saying the presentation out loud in its entirety and not just thinking about it.

I used to have the same fear. Join Toastmasters. You will enjoy public speaking after a while in the organization. At least I do now.

Im so much better off winging it. Just learn the materials in a semi organized way and let nature take its course

I kinda dig public speaking though

I'm not a fan and have to do it reasonably often. I've had to give presentations on a stage at conferences in front of a few hundred people in the past. I still get nervous speaking in front of 20 people to this day.

I do tons of public speaking in-front of 100's of people.

The biggest thing is just knowing the material. If you know the material, you'll be fine once you get going.

Also, picture the blonde with DD's in the 3rd row nekkid

I couldn't do it. Public speaking is probably my number 1 phobia. I fear going down in a plane crash less. I find it terrifying.

I'm weird, I guess. I'd rather be giving a presentation to 50 people than having to make small talk with a stranger

Insert some humor to release any perceived tension you feel in the room (you aren't being judged, but you'll feel like you are). Be yourself, not a robot. If you're passionate about the subject, express your passion.

What's the worst that could possibly happen? You lose your train of thought while speaking? So what! Make a self-deprecating joke to, again, cut the perceived tension and move on.

Don’t take your speech up there.

Maybe a few outline notes and possibly any list you made need.

Start off with a funny ice breaker and let’er rip.

500 ish is the most I’ve presented to.

I was worried in the past about being on corporate Q&A sessions that someone would axe something I didn’t know, but it never happened.

Yep, I am. I do some corporate training on the side and I hate it.

I'm the same exact way. I don't fear public speaking but my voice does this weird quiver thing at the beginning of my speeches. I settle in after and get in a groove, then it goes away. It's not fear, it's just a jitter like you said. Power through the intro, settle in, pause if you have to.

Yep, I am. I do training for large groups every once in a while and I hate it. Even do some corporate training for an environmental firm on the side. Hate that too.

It's not my most favorite thing.

I find that once I'm a couple of minutes in, then I'm fine. A couple of weeks ago I had to present for our strategy meetings...45 minute presentation...I was tired of hearing me talk by the end of it.

I worked for a European company for a few years and had to give a presentation to about 40 people in Europe one time. I'm already somewhat of a nervous speaker and was told to slow it down and speak clearly because English was all their 2nd or 3rd language. fricking brutal
